Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 35 (type 522/24)

Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 35 folding 35mm camera

Manufactured from 1949 to 1953, the Ikonta 35 is a folding viewfinder camera fitted, in this case, with a Schneider Xenar lens in a Compur-Rapid shutter. The Xenar lens appears to be uncoated. It can also be found with a Novar-Anastigmat lens in an AGC shutter, or a Zeiss Tessar in Compur-Rapid shutter, like my latest find.

The Ikonta 35 is a simpler model than the folding Contessa 35 camera, since it has neither a rangefinder nor an exposure meter.

Earlier examples may lack the accessory shoe seen on these ones.

The Ikonta 35 was later renamed Contina.
