Retard gear train from a Retina IIIc Synchro-Compur shutter

The retard gear train often needs to be cleaned of all the dust and dried-out lubricants in order to run correctly.

In this first clip you can see one that is in need of cleaning, although it is by no means a bad example, some of them don't move at all.

If the gear train needs cleaning like this one, then this can be done by the simple method of working the action, just as was done in the video, except this time with the gear train submerged in a suitable solvent. I use Ronsonol cigarette lighter fuel (naphtha) for this job.

In this second clip you see one that has just been cleaned.
