Manufactured from 1947, the Kiev is a copy of the pre-war Zeiss Ikon Contax II. This particular example was made in 1949.

The Kiev has a vertical-run metal focal-plane shutter with speeds from 1/2 to 1/1250 second.

The 5cm f/2 lens, which is in a collapsible mount, is from KMZ Zorki.

I was given this camera by the late Stuart Willis of Brisbane, when I visited him some years ago. Stuart was well-known contributor on the Classic Camer Repair Forum.
